Welcome to the endeavor!
Welcome to the internet home of A Wagon Mound Veteran Affair. We thank our web developer and designer for all her assistance without which a web-site would not be possible.
Many extraordinarily kind individuals have listened to the vision of what this endeavor hopes to accomplish, offered their time, understanding and morale support. We are deeply grateful.
This project is founded upon the belief that within each of us is an innate need for happiness. Regardless of the difficulties one may have endured or atrocities witnessed, we all deserve to find our peace.
A veteran of the Marine Corps spoke one day of the depressions experienced by many of the great leaders of the world mentioning that Franklin Delano Roosevelt suffered deep emotional distress and anxiety. When FDR went home he painted – watercolors I believe. In the efforts of creative rote activity, he found a calm. Magic!
Artistic expressions are not a “cure all” but have been proven to aid in an individual’s search for contentment!
The initiator of this “Affair” is a combat vet who taught himself to paint – oils on canvas. In front of his easel, wiping paint from his hands on tattered rags, his clothes spotted with alizarin crimson or sap green, his brushes needing to be cleaned, one can see that after decades of anger and inner conflict, a satisfaction and a relief has been found. Through whatever “rote” activity you may be so inclined to pursue, in your own creative efforts may you find yourself enchanted by the magic of the artist or the poet, the photographer, the cartoonist, potter, the essayist, carpenter or the sculptor that resides within you.

you are most welcome
Congratulations on the webpage, and the entire project, which not too long ago was just a curious thought! You are both truly remarkable and seem to be blessed with the gift of turning possible impossibilities into realities! I look forward to every new announcement of your successes with plaster, murals, grants, ordinances, human rights, beans….
You, Shawna, have shown me how perseverance can make a dream come true. You have set an example I am honored to attempt to follow.
